Monday 8th February 2021, the first real day of snow that my baby and dog have seen before. Living in England, its a rare occasion we get proper snow let alone get to go out and be amongst it. So I guess Covid has enabled us to enjoy it together as a family. One of their first life experiences.
The ground had a good coverage and deep enough to submerge your feet, wellies are recommended!
First, I thought to let out our dog into the garden to have a run around on the untouched fresh snow, he's an Akita but quite honestly he's a soppy dog and likes to be warm so I wondered how this would go.
With a little encouragement to get him to go outside and pretend I'm chasing him he started running around, zooming like he usually does so I think it was a success....he didn't even mind me throwing snow on him, if anything it spurred him on more to play.
Now my daughter on the other hand, seeing the snow she was a little bewildered, so we took her outside in a waterproof snowsuit and laid her down on the table that had snow on it so she can feel and see the snow around her. Well I don't think she enjoyed it, the coldness, the feeling or the little snowflakes falling on her face, to go into the cold from a warm home I would feel the same too!
But I have no doubt next year, when she is older and the big IF it snows again enough to play outside, she will want to run around and enjoy it a lot more than this time and I will have to get in the snow more myself.
