So our shower has started getting this pink / orangey colour along the tiles and grout. I had been told you can't really get rid of it. Which I thought surely not then I spiralled thinking I have to replace all the tiles for ones that I can clean easier as they have so many grooves. This however wasn't true and I found a solution!
I found out it was called pink mildew, which is a water-borne bacteria, it’s harmless to most. However, it can cause an urinary tract or bladder infection if it gets into an open wound or through eyes.
Firstly I began testing different products: simply some antibacterial spray and cloths, which didn't work; so then I tried a scourer sponge and Pink Stuff (if you haven't got this then buy some it works so so well on everything!). Using these did help so much it was beginning to come off, also using some CIF cream cleaner, but the scourer, well that was starting to disintegrate due to the grooves of the tiles and the heavy scrubbing.
Now let me state I was looking for a different product on Amazon for cleaning before I bought these, but am so glad I stumbled on these instead. Brushes that go onto your drills...yes that's right use some drills to clean at home.
I did have a little laugh looking at the product images showing a woman scrubbing a sink with gloves and a sponge with a quote "spend more energy and time low efficiency" next to which was "VS save time and effort high efficiency" with a man holding a drill with the brush attachments. But don't be put off these pictures women can use a drill and like them too!
So I ordered them to help the process of cleaning the shower a lot quicker, thank you Amazon Prime the next day they were here...Off to the shower and I must say they are brilliant, you can get speed and in all the nitty gritty bits with the various attachments.
Now my shower is looking like a shower should: clean. But if you don't have a drill I did briefly use my old electronic toothbrush and it worked just as well, just so very time consuming!
